Join us for a fantastic trail half marathon at Sweetwater Creek State Park.
This race course, starting and finishing at the park's Interpretive Center, offers 13.1 miles of winding moderately difficult trails in and around the Sweetwater Creek State Park, following the lovely rapids of Sweetwater Creek, and venturing past Civil War-ear textile mill ruins. These trails vary from sandy and flat to hilly to technical. You will pass over a couple of small creeks throughout the run. The conditions for the race can be unpredictable; one year we ran in six inches of snow, while during another we ran through the set of a major motion picture filming at the park (Killing Season with Robert De Niro and John Travolta).
There will be a 4 hour time limit for this race. Formal course support will end at 1:00 p.m.
The cost for registration is as follows:
Pre-registered by January 30 - $50
After January 30 - $60
Race Day Registration is available unless the race fills up.
This race is limited to 150 runners. Shirts guaranteed to pre-registered entrants prior to January 30, limited sizes and number available to entries after January 30.
Register for both the Sweetheart Half and Rogue-Yeti Heartbreak Marathon at the same time and receive a $10 discount ($100 for both races prior to January 30). Register via the on-line link, or fill out race applications for each race and submit.
Packet pick-up will be on race day from 7:45 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. on race day at the Group Shelter in Sweetwater Creek State Park. The race starts at 9:00 a.m.
The course map and description will be posted here as soon as they are finalized for 2015.
There will be several aid stations on the course (exact locations will be posted as soon as they are finalized for 2015). All aid stations will provide water, and some will provide sports drink and snacks. However, this race is a trail race, so we're not able to have aid stations every two miles. Participants are strongly encouraged to carry a handheld water bottle with them, which aid station volunteers will happily refill (why not cut down the waste of cups?). Also, if you have trash, please do not drop it on the trail. Trash in, trash out is the motto of trail running. If you can't carry it on you, please deposit any trash at an aid station, but PLEASE do not litter on the trails!
Awards will go to Women/Men: Top 3 overall, 1st place Masters
